MATIS is one of the Units of the Institute of Microelectronics &
Microsystems (IMM) within the National Research Council (CNR). It was established in 2004, following a rigorous selection procedure by an international review panel, as one of the ten interdisciplinary Research & Development Centers of the National Institute for the Physics of Matter (INFM). In 2010 MATIS gathered IMM as a Research Unit. |
| Mission of MATIS is to create a center of excellence for basic and applied research on silicon-based microphotonics and on key issues of microelectronics, quantum coherent systems and advanced photovoltaics. Our aim is to perform leading fundamental research in key areas for the technological development. We want to collaborate at the highest scientific levels performing research with strong international impact. Our ambition is to become an internationally recognized center in the research areas of our competence. To this aim strict contacts with both industry and academia are strategic for the development and success of MATIS.
|
The research activity in MATIS is structured in six main scientific lines:
(i) Si-based nanostructures
(ii) Metallic nanostructures
(iii) Silicon photonics
(iv) Advanced photovoltaics
(v) Materials and processes for ULSI
(vi) Information processing and networking in quantum coherent systems
